Timber

Our property came with over 130 logs that were left for dead following a really big clearing project years before we arrived. The arborist suggested we chip everything. Alex had other dreams…. It could be wood from our very own land for building eventual structures/art/furniture/guitars on our site! As long as he was in charge of managing the project, we agreed it was green-lighted.

Alex found Dave, a super lumber nerd who is very knowledgeable about all things milling. Dave has a portable mill and spent a few months each weekend carefully working through our log deck. Each week we sent ideas and each week, Dave would cut the wood to various sizes and thickness to accommodate. With a little “island time” for drying (between 2-3 years depending on cut/thickness), our little lumbar yard will provide us with some very cool material to recycle for our eventual structures, art, and musical instruments! Oh…and Dave gave us a very sweet gift after the project was over!!
